I like window seats myself, and sympathize with your frustration at not finding one. Please allow me to play contrarian on the design question.

What would the right design look like?
Since the model in question is small enough, it makes sense to be transparent, and show the model to the user directly. A simple view of the model, that is, the state of all the seats in the aircraft, allows the user to easily answer any number of queries they might have.

For example, a user may have queries like:
Are there two window seats available in adjacent rows?
Is there a window seat available or, failing that, is an aisle seat available?

Creating a query interface that’s flexible enough to answer any questions about the model would be a difficult task. Throwing a visual representation at the user, lets their right brain get the answer without using any words.
